The Inspection Reports Web site is designed to provide information to the public concerning the results of inspections of regulated facilities. Public health inspectors (also known as environmental health officers) carry out more than 16,000 inspections of food facilities in Vancouver Coastal Health communities annually, visiting more than 6000 food service establishments, 3500 food stores and processors. They also routinely inspect drinking water systems, swimming pools, personal service establishments and licensed community care facilities.
Visitors to this site are cautioned against interpreting the status of a particular facility based on only one inspection. The web site will always contain information about the three most recent scheduled inspections, thereby providing the public with a brief history of compliance by the facility. Visitors are encouraged to browse the history of the facility before arriving at any conclusions.
This web site has been designed to convey the same type of information to the general public as they would receive through a request under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act of B.C. To ensure the protection of personal privacy the web site will not contain information related to complaint inspections. The web site is currently updated twice weekly.
While every effort is made to keep the information up-to-date and ensure that it is accurate, Vancouver Coastal Health is not responsible for discrepancies between information posted here and the actual inspection reports provided to the food establishment and maintained in electronic format at VCH offices.
If you discover a discrepancy, have any questions about a particular facility or if there is a facility not listed on our web site, please let us know by e-mailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 604-675-3800 (for Vancouver), 604-233-3147 (for Richmond) or 604-983-6700 (for North Shore) between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00p.m. weekdays. Please note that inspections for the Sunshine Coast, Squamish and Whistler are not currently on this site but can be found at www.healthspace.ca/vch.
